Josh + Jenny

July 20, 2019

I got to photograph my first proposal with the cutest couple! Josh reached out to me recently and asked me to capture his proposal to Jenny, and I jumped at the chance! He wanted to propose at Lakeshore Park since they visit there often.

We met up the day before at the park and mapped out every possible scenario. We had a plan for if it was raining, and it there were too many people around because we didn’t want to take any chances! That day, the plan was for Josh and Jenny to go to brunch, then arrive at Lakeshore Park right after. They would go for a walk, he would stop on the trail and propose, and I would start taking pictures once he knelt down.

Luckily, it was a beautiful day, and the plan worked flawlessly. I had found the prettiest ginkgo tree to sit under while I waited for them, and learned later that the ginkgo tree symbolizes endurance and longevity—how fitting! While I waited, I was incognito under the tree "reading a book" while I waited for them to walk by hoping Jenny didn't see my camera. As soon as they walked by me, I hopped up and took photos! She said yes!

Afterward, Josh had surprised Jenny again by inviting their family and friends to their house to help celebrate their engagement. So cute! I’m so glad I was able to capture this sweet moment for these two! They were so easy to photograph, and I love how you can see just how happy they are in the photos. Congrats Josh and Jenny!
